The incoming storm - Swordfish cover

Cover for the new incoming game of Ghenos Games "Swordfish".
It's almost the definitive thing, probably will work a little more on the logo. The original painting is larger, since I've drawn it very large to make it go around the sides of the box.

Swordfish is a strategy/german boardgame by Pierluigi Frumusa, about fishing enterprises in the north atlantic, around the Flemish Cap, searching for swordfishes.
The theme of the game is a battle between the man's on their boats, the time, and aiming for a good profit, all the while surviving the terrible storms that COULD spring up in the north atlantic.

I were asked to take inspiration from "a Perfect Storm" (the movie), that's ambiented around those places, and the editor gived me a model of the "Andrea Gail" ship, and I painted the ship using that reference.

For the swordfish, I watched references around the web, but I drew it mostly by fantasy, since else it would have seemed too "dead" and dry.
For the sea I used a mix of painting and "matte" (using parts of photos for texture), for the sky I painted all, clouds too, using various brushes.

The logo is not finished yet, I will have to work a bit on it.

All done in Photoshop with wacom tablet, around 4-5 days of work.
